    Description

You are looking at a 4x Gold Medal Olympian Al Oerter Authentic Glicee Series Gallery Painting #'d 03/800. This Art of the Olympians Painting measures 21"x28." It has an Authenticity Stamp from Al Oerter's gallery and is signed by Al's wife, Cathy Oerter. I've seen others like this go for much more, even some for sale in the thousands.
This was a gift from Al and his wife to his then friend and neighbor when they lived in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. His neighbor was also a close family friend of ours and this, as well as an ORIGINAL, larger piece (not a glicee, but a one of a kind), were given to us upon her passing. If you are interested in the ORIGINAL larger piece, it could be for sale also. Message me for information.
Please note, I am not an art expert by any means. I can only tell you that the signature is on the front. I can also attest to the fact that this was a personal gift to his friend and neighbor. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
Here is some information about this historic Olympian:
Alfred Oerter Jr. (September 19, 1936 – October 1, 2007) was an American athlete and a four-time Olympic Champion in the discus throw. He was the first athlete to win a gold medal in the same individual event in four consecutive Olympic Games. Oerter is an inductee of the IAAF Hall of Fame.
In 2006 he founded the Art of the Olympians organization and held an Olympian Art exhibition in his home town of Fort Myers. This first show included artworks and sculptures from 14 Olympians, including Florence Griffith Joyner, Roald Bradstock, Shane Gould, Cameron Myler, Rink Babka and Larry Young. Later that year the exhibit traveled to New York City for shows at the United Nations, the New York Athletic Club and then at the National Arts Club. Art of the Olympians also had their work on display on the giant Panasonic Astro-Vision screen in Times Square for the entire month November 2006. Oerter and other Olympian artists were also featured on the CBS Morning Show to discuss their New York Tour.
