Description

A presentation 'dress' bayonet dedicated to the soldier’s time in service.
The serviceman, by the name of “
Stegemann
”, served on the headquarters staff (“
Stab
”) in the 57th Pioneers that were attached to the Leichte-Brigade (later the 6th Panzer Division) during the conflict 1937-39.
The bayonet is inscribed:
57th Pioneer was attached to the 6th Panzer Division.

Stab or staff = HQ of pioneer battalion 57 (ie. engineers)

. It took part in the invasion of Poland and was reorganized and redesignated
6. Panzer-Division
on 18 Oct 1939.
It was manufactured by the famed Eickhorn-Solingen Company (still in business today) and sports its appropriate portapee or troddel knot.
